Biographical or Historical Note

Sally Walsh was a nationally recognized interior designer who practiced in Houston. She worked for both Knoll Associates and S. I. Morris Associates, designing interiors as well as specific objects. She selected the interior furniture for the Museum of Fine Art, Houston´s 1974 Mies van der Rohe addition, including the executive offices. The long black leather and chrome gallery benches made for the Upper Brown Pavilion were her design.

She was a Houston design legend, whose large projects included the interiors of Transco Tower and Houston Central Library downtown. In 1986 she was named to the second annual Interior Design Magazine Hall of Fame, the first Houstonian to receive this honor.

She died January 12, 1992 of cancer.
